Each individual’s journey is unique, and the number of sessions required can vary. However, as a general guideline, approximately 6 sessions are typically recommended to allow for meaningful progress. However, please note that this can vary based on your specific needs and goals. Ultimately, you are in control of the duration of your therapy journey, and I am committed to supporting you for as long as needed while respecting your autonomy. It’s important to me to honour my ethical obligation to ensure you reach the outcome you desire and not to prolong therapy unnecessarily.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A CONSULTATION?

During our consultation with the assessment, we’ll have the opportunity to get to know each other better. You’ll have the chance to share your concerns, goals, and any questions you may have about this transformational process.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS TRANSFORMATIONAL SESSION IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Sessions with me can be beneficial for anyone seeking support, guidance, or a safe space to explore personal challenges. Whether you’re experiencing emotional distress, facing difficult life transitions, or simply seeking personal growth, counselling and my transformational approach offer a supportive environment to navigate these experiences. ARE THOSE SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Your privacy is of the utmost importance, and all information shared during our sessions will be kept confidential, except in rare circumstances where there is a legal obligation to disclose information (such as if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others). I adhere to strict ethical guidelines and professional standards to ensure your privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE FIRST SESSION?

Before your first session, it may be helpful to reflect on your reasons for seeking support and any specific goals or concerns you’d like to address. You will have the opportunity to jot down any questions or topics you’d like to discuss during our session during the booking process. Most importantly, come as you are, and know that you’ll be met with empathy, understanding, and support.

When myself or others failed to live up to these rules it led to feelings of disappointment and frustration. Before I only focused on the ‘should’ and all the things I ‘should’ be doing. Now I realise that many of these ‘shoulds’ were making me unhappy. I now understand that my mental health is just as important as my physical health and one cannot be separated from the other. Alison helped me realise that my recent episodes of ill health were related to a boom/bust cycle and that my body was sending me warning signs I needed to listen to.
